Wendy Carrillo is a commentator and analyst for all things politics, popular culture and education. As a first generation Latina, Wendy has a unique grasp on young voters, urban demographics, Latino issues and the blend of hip hop within popular culture.

Since 2006, Wendy has been the host and executive producer of "Knowledge is Power" on KPWR Los Angeles, Power 106. The show is a mix of politics, pop culture, hip hop, community and conversations with leading national experts. She has covered politics and entertainment news for the nationally syndicated radio morning show, "Big Boy's Neighborhood" and has been an invited guest in various national television and radio shows. Wendy is also a contributing blogger to Huffington Post: Los Angeles.

Wendy is considered a leader within the Hispanic/Latino community and was invited to participate in the first ever White House Hispanic Policy Conference hosted by the White House Office of Public Engagement and the White House Initiative for Educational Excellence for Hispanics. As a public speaker, Wendy loves to share her personal and educational journey with young people and inspire them to think beyond their comfort zones.

During the historic presidential election of 2008, Wendy won a national competition to represent young Latinos by receiving more than 7,000 online votes to report from the Democratic National Convention for SiTV and Voto Latino.

She has received media training from the New Organizing Institute and CNN headquarters in Atlanta. Recently, Wendy won the coveted San Francisco based Elfen Award for Social Justice in Poverty for a short film on Homeboy Industries as an organization with solutions to end gang violence and inspire hope. Adding her viewpoints to the online community, Wendy's blog was recognized by Hispanic Business Magazine as a leading voice influencing culture and politics.

Wendy emigrated to the U.S from El Salvador as a child and grew up in the community of East Los Angeles. She is the eldest of five daughters, and on her spare time enjoys rocking out to karaoke.
